CHAMPION 24FW TRUE TO ARCHIVES Crewneck
This crewneck is a reproduction of the earliest "REVERSE WEAVE" design, which was developed in 1934 and patented in 1938.
"REVERSE WEAVE" is a manufacturing method devised by Sam Friedland, a salesman with experience working as a cutter at the long-established American men's clothing store Hickey Freeman, after a customer pointed out to him that his clothes would shrink after washing. This reproduction faithfully recreates the seamless shoulders made from a single piece of fabric, as well as the original manufacturing method of creating patterns from a tubular sweatshirt. The collar label from the time, which did not say "REVERSE WEAVE," has also been reproduced.
